What makes this for me is the flying. Also, vamps get lots of lord support in this block, so his squishiness is usually less of an issue. By the time I get around to playing him in my vamp tribal deck, I can usually get +2/+2 on all my guys.

I like this card. It can work in Constructed. The deck I have him in is a mono-red vampire deck. Blasphemy I know. Vampires w/o Black? Here me out though. I did splash just enough black for Stromkirk Captain (it's just too powerful not too). At the 1 cmc slot I have Stromkirk Noble and Furnace Scamp. I have Furor of the BItten, Curse of Stalked Prey, Panic Spellbomb and Nightbird's Clutches for turn 2. Turn 3 I have Crossway Vampire, Erdwal Ripper, and Volt Charge.
What's the point of all this you ask? Pressure. Plain and simple. Bum rush your opponent from turn one and force chump blocks or run through unblockables to whittle down their life total in fairly devastating chunks and force removal early. These guys may like to act like they're all buddies with Rakish Heir and co, but secretly they're been sneaking out at day to chill with Bramblewood Paragon and her Obsidian Battleaxe.
Seriously, flying warriors are hard to get ahold of. The aforementioned cards let this guy come out as a 5/4 trampling flying haster. Sorts out most of my opponent's flyers easily.

These are great if your opponent has little or no flying/reach, in which case they are a 4 turn clock on 20 life. Otherwise, 2/2 is a bit weak, but they are vampires so useful in my part-vampire deck.
The art looks really cool though.
