I would cast this on an opponents creature if it took out a creature that was a threat to me. Its a free for all, you don't want to hurt your position to make your opponents position stronger unless you have to.

This is best used as a combat trick. If you use it to damage the player, your only netting 1 point of damage, unless you put it on a double strike or infect.

Once Upon a Time,
Infect was in standard,
The reason why this card was overlooked with infect is because they weren't standard at the same time. Countless people countless times made green infect decks, and every one of them were made for standard online or not, no one even thought of using this card in an Infect deck while it was standard.

Now that standard is no longer threatened by Poisons, people look to Modern to see how venomous they can make it, and have seen the true power of Infect+Inviorate.

(TL:DR - People didn't think of this card for the longest time with infect was because this and infect were never in standard at the same time).

One of the guys I play with wins turn 2 or 3 with a playset of this, Glistener Elf and Mutagenic Growth. It's freaking evil.
