Just so darn versatile. Even for {8}, creatures don't get much better than this...in {B} you will likely have little trouble filling your own graveyard with enough creature cards, the 6/5 P/T ratio is also awesome in that Avatar of Woe can beat face against a creatureless deck, or destroy key creatures in a deck that is more creature based.

I think this would work perfectly in my cycling Mortal Combat deck.

Wow, this card really outclasses all of the other Avatars by far. For reducing it's mana cost, the condition it requires isn't something that's disfavorable to you, as in Avatar of Might and Avatar of Hope. Insead the condition is neutral to favorable, since when you're in black you often have reasons to have creatures in your own grave, and means to kill creatures of your opponents. To boot, it has the best evasion, fear instead of trample or flying, and the best ability, Terminate versus Firebreathing and the like. I mean, comparing to the other avatars is just silly. This one really just stands on its own.

My advice on how to use it? Let the board get big enough, cast Jokulhaups floating BB, lay it down on resolution. The land destruction serves to protect it, and your opponent's will be hard pressed to play any creatures.

A supremely powerful creature-
sort of like Shauku, Endbringer,
but much more usable-
especially mid-game, or in multiplayer scenarios.

No wonder Juzám Djinn has continued to depreciate.

Why would they change the art for this one? It's great. In fact the only avatar they've changed the art of looked horrible. (Avatar of Hope)

This creature is excellent. but the mana cost is pretty bad. unless the other player is playing with a blue deck that deletes cards from your libary, it's unlikely that you will have 10 or more creature cards in your graveyard. Visara the Dreadful is 2 less to card but she has one less power and is Legenday. I like Fear alot, probally even more than flying, so I suppose this is the better of the two.
