Essentially staples a fireball onto a drain life. (Yes, yes, no multiple targeting, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen anyone use that on fireball.)
Ice Age had something of and allied-colors boost theme. Off-color activations, rewards for controlling an allied-colored permanent, and in this case something to do with allied mana.

I like how this card says that you can't gain for life than the total life of the targeted player
It wouldn't matter they would be dead. Unless they had Platinum Angel out

Similar to Drain Life, though you can also use {R} for pure burn - but it costs {1} more.

Consume Spirit uses one less mana, but can only use black mana, and doesn't limit your lifegain and it gets 4/5. So ---3.5/5
