Sorry but Ghave, Guru of Spores would still come into play as a 5/5. Ghave comes into play with the counters they are not placed on him so Corpsejack's ability wouldn't take effect.
But you could still pay 
to give him +1/+1 with Corpsejack.

Corpsejack Menace is one of my favorite cards. Half a doubling season, and a 4/4 for 4 mana isn't bad either. I love the original and promo card art, both look awesome. Skullbriar edh made a new friend.
