The only thing about the keyrunes: I've been spoiled by Darksteel Ingot, and the signets, so it is hard for me to not be biased in judging this. ~_~

It suffers from summoning sickness. Any non-creature that becomes a creature in the same turn it was played still has summoning sickness.

Pros like me know that first strike and high power make for excellent board control.

@Travelsonic: Name one card like that. I didn't think so.

if you destroy the creature that the keyrune has turned into, in this case a black and red devil, is the card then destroyed and placed in the graveyard or does it return to the original artefact form and stay on the battlefield?

Out of the ten keyrunes, this one is the best. It can trade with both Thragtusk and its baby, while also killing a lot of the bears in the format.
4/5

Behold, the only Standard-playable Keyrune. 3/1 first strike is rather powerful compared to the others. 2/3 hexproof? 1/4 lifelink? 2/2 flying? I'd much rather have this than anything else, even Boros's 1/1 double strike.

@Travelsonic
In a two-color deck, keyrunes are usually better than Darksteel Ingots. They are also generally better than signets (Dimir Signet sure can't attack for two unblockable damage each turn).
