Elvish Archers is an okay card, the only things that make it good is that its converted mana cost is only 2 (perfect for a fast deck) and first strike which makes up for its lousy defense.

Certainly a functional card, but I don't think it's anywhere near flashy or evocative enough to warrant being rare. This is common material...a good common, yes, but common nonetheless.

I have a question - if I use them with Greatbow Doyen, do they get the bonus since the card itself is not labeled as a archer, but Wizards decided to add a subtype to this card?

Say what you will about Seventh Edition, but at least their artists actually respected the pluralized name, showing multiple archers instead of just one. Same goes for the 7E printing of Llanowar Elves as well.

I still don't see why it is rare just because first strike in green is rare.

I'd love to see a reprint of this powered up a bit to keep up with the creature curve as of late. Maybe something like two green mana for a 2/1 first strike reach elf
