Wizards can't print a better werewolf mythic than this. Repeatable advantages allow this card to win games by itself, you don't need to overkill by having Mayors or Immerwolfs. And the "dies to removal" argument is actually not a good argument against this card, becuase by just entering the battlefield you get another 2/2 and 2 life. Now, your opponent can use a spot removal card on the Huntmaster like Galvanic Blast or Dismember or a black kill spell. This still puts you in a good situation, because your opponent just used a removal spell, a card that would later probably kill something of greater value. In this case, you still have a 2/2 wolf, and 2 more life. And your opponent has one less removal spell to deal with the wolf. The other situation where your opponent deals with this card is by playing a board wipe spell like Slagstorm or Black Sun's Zenith. Now your wolf and Huntm... (see all)

If you're wondering whether or not to put him next to Immerwulf, you can stop wondering:
If you play him with Immerwulf out, you're opponents won't know what to kill. Immerwulf is absolutely a completely must have for any Werewolf deck that doesn't use this card. Literally this is the only Wolf that doesn't get stupider with Immerwulf. This card is so powerful, it seems impossible to not play him next to Mayor of Avabruck. Yeah. That works. If you play all three together, you may have some semi-negative synergies, but there will be no right answers for your opponents.
I betcha I can predict an Avacyn Restored card:
"Silver Moony Blessing Purity Angel Sparkle Spell of Curing People Who LIKE BEING MONSTERS!''
#white mana, maybe white and black mana.
Sorcery
Make target Werewolf Deck sad (transform all moony side DFC's to sunny side)
this seems like a very obvious spell to make, and we already know that DFC's themselves are out.
the actual rules text we can expect to be more prof... (see all)

In hindsight, I don't think Huntmaster is really that great of a card.
For all of the other rare werewolves, they greatly improve the ability to make big attackers. Mayor of Avabruck is the lord, Immerwolf is his pet, Kruin Outlaw is his daughter, and the Instigator Gang are his bodyguards.
Today, I went to a draft, and a person there pulled him. "Poop", I thought, "I'm going to get crushed". Strangely enough, I was able to kill the Ravager with a simply Tragic Slip, and the whole big, mythic, transforming, $20 threat was quelled with a 1-cost black removal, while I only lost 2 life, and all I had to deal with was only a 2/2 wolf token and a 4/4 werewolf in the end.
I understand that this is supposed to be more versatile and less barbaric than the other werwolves (thus is why he's the Huntmaster, not an Outlaw or a Gang (forgot the mayor for a second :P)), but I'd rather have Ga... (see all)

I admit that I am biased against liking werewolves. This thing looks quite fun and combo-ish, but no matter how much text on it I will always have the same problem with all the Werewolves I've seen.
THEY ALL LOOK THE BLIDDY SAME! I remember features in card art rather than poses, and while each pose in Werewolf art is different (I am grateful) the creature itself just looks the same one! My only exception would be Gatstaf Howler, and only because he has cute curly bits!

Sorry he only gets a 3 from me. After playing with and without him I have to say I'm happier without him. Mayor + immerwolf + instigator gangs is just far nastier. I'm just not interested in flipping my werewolves, and without the flip he's only a 4/4?.. no thanks. So unless you build your deck around flipping you're better off looking elsewhere.
Plus his art is HORRIBLE, werewolf mode is fine, but grizzly adams? Really? Why not make him look like some epic ranger?
All in all, we just need a better werewolf mythic.
@NuckChorris I'll grant you he's fast, the 2 life is... fine. But he's not helping me ramp up the way the rest of my werewolves do. I've got equal CMC options that give my opponent as bad or even worse creature destruction decisions, and give me more ongoing support. HotF is definitely good, just not mythic good. I'll throw him back in my deck for a bit just to make sure I'm not missing out on something, but in my experience he didn't speed up my aggression much more than... (see all)

I don't like the idea of adding triggered abilities to transformations. Werewolves are clearly at their best as werewolves. What would be a good (and flavorful) mechanic is triggering abilities when the Werewolvs attack Hinterland Hermit or land a hit Silverpelt werewolf.
