That combo will actually just end with you decking yourself since neither Reaver's card draw nor the Chimera's life gain are optional. Would not recommend it.

Seriously, neither effect is a may, it would deck you, you would die with out another card such as Psychosis Crawler or Labratory Maniac, as has already been stated.
As for the card, he is very powerful. Strictly speaking from an EDH and Limited point of view, I would give him a 4/5. As I do not play standard/modern/legacy, I will obstain from making comments. I can, however, understand the points made that at 7CMC with no immediate effect on the board nor any built-in protection this is probablly not ideal.

If you want value out of this guy, just put him into play with a few Soul Wardens and Soul's Attendant on the battlefield. Immediately gain life from him entering, then immediately draw cards equal to the number of Soul Sisters.
Also, Pristine Talisman for additional profit/acceleration if you plan on putting him into play by casting him.

Exactly what lifegain wants: something other than lifegain
Exactly what card draw wants: more life to last longer
Wizards, print more synergist excellence, please. Keep up the good work, and next time dont stick them all in mythic.
I'm always happy to see a creature that helps out card draw or lifegain, since single instant/sorceries are generally pretty ***. My only complaint is that, while the hands look creepy and white-washed out, the background art looks really stupid.
