I hate it when people play this against my Nighthawk...

I chose Rakdos as my guild for the prerelease, and I opened three of these. Reading the card in the visual spoiler, I wasn't impressed, but as is so often the case, seeing the card in action taught me a new and healthy respect that I didn't have at first glance.
It can kill a little guy, if you need that. It can cripple a big guy, if you need that. If, as with my Rakdos deck at the prerelease, you find your creature-based assault stalled, or facing a wall of bigger guys, then Stab Wound can serve as a way to get the final couple of points off of their life total. It created some interesting play decisions for me in a deck that was otherwise "play guy, attack, remove opponent creature, repeat", and I have to applaud the RtR team for creating such an interesting aura!
Also, on a sillier note, because this is what went through my head upon first reading it:
Centurion: "You know the penalty laid down by Roman law for harbouring a known criminal?"
Matthias: "No."
C: "Crucif... (see all)

I've taken to referring to this card as Menstrual Cramps... and each creature I target as "your girlfriend"... makes perfect sense flavorwise... :P

This was so great at prerelease. Dealing with small creatures and weakening big creatures while making the owner regret keeping them alive is amazing, especially at only 3 mana and one black. Throwing one on an opponent's Lotleth Troll was my favorite part of the weekend. "So you can either let that bomb die, or ditch your creature cards right now and make him too weak to be a big threat for a couple of turns and insure that I bleed you out for awhile." He picked the latter. Even by the time he finally wasted an Abrupt Decay on it, the Stab Wound had slowed down his game completely and gotten probably 10 life out of him. Awesomesauce

I hate this card in the sense that it is nasty to play against. I had two of these out on me at the same time and it ended the match pretty quickly. It's a fun card, and really devastating in limited.

I hope the rest of the hotties in the game don't see this, or they might start armoring their smoking-hot midriffs...

Beautiful common. Gives you more options! Take their creatures out right away or use it to tax their health every turn, give them a clock to get nervous about. Goes perfectly on defenders, wolfir sikverheart and another big things that make me cringe. Will see standard and definitely see draft play.
Unless a player has a way to sac or destroy their own big bodied creature, you'll end up getting your manas worth out of this card every time. Oh and did I mention its a common?
Art is hilarious, id stab somebody that ugly too... Lol

Pros like me agree with the non-pros here that this card presents great value.

Was an MVP in my Golagri deck during pre-release. Plop it on a defender and watch their health ebb away. Will probably be too slow in a standard deck but I just love this card. Amazing art too, its painfull to look at.
