Good card. My only gripe is that the oracle text should replace "Spirit" with "Shade". It would be more fitting I think.

Basically stands a good chance of killing two creatures with 1 card. Costly, but not terrible and far more powerful than most of the other stuff in this era.

Pretty good for a homelands card. 2-for-1 defensive potential.

Nemesis Trap is a modern version of this.

Killed many a Baron Sengir with this card, one of the few good cards from homelands.

after reading these comments i have seriously reconsidered the significance of this card. however, it's still very much a late-game sort of card... too expensive. it would be great if the shadow token stayed in play.

A very good two-for-one. One of the few Homelands cards to take a second look at.

How to use this card: First of all, not only does it destroy but it buries. It can target black creatures (!) and permanently kill them even if they have a regenerate ability. Not only that, but played before the declare blockers step (if I am reading it right) you can use the shadow token declared as a blocker to chump block an additional creature. This card is actually quite good.

It's surprising, but this card is actually - almost - worth the mana cost. You're basically killing two creatures with one card. I know 'five mana should win me the game' but really, destroying your opponent's two most dangerous attackers is very often equatable to winning the game. I for one would like to see an update, possibly colourshifted into white or red.
