I find the flavor text hilarious considering the fact that Anaba Bodyguard was in fact not a Minotaur as originally printed.

Homelands was printed into a Standard environment that already contained better cards from Ice Age and Alliances. It was below par for the format right off the bat. No power crept up here.

High toughness and first strike seems kind of pointless... if it can survive hits, why does it have first strike. If it can kill an enemy before it takes damage, why does it need high toughness?

This card was below par when it was first printed, the years have only cemented this fact.
Homelands was the worst set period, at least Fallen Empires contained a few playable cards.

I prefer Anaba to Canyon when it comes to minotaurs. First Strike is a great ability.

Homelands was terrible, and this card is a prime example of the total lack of sanity in that set. First of all, a 2/3 first striker for 4 is pretty bad. Oh, but it's a Minotaur, and since - out of nowhere - it has been decided that they will be The Next Big Red Tribe, that makes it okay. Except the game has practically no Minotaurs in it, aside from those in Homelands... oh, and this ISN'T A MINOTAUR as printed?! WHY?!
In the end, it's not only useless, but a sad example of how poorly designed Homeland was. Stuff like this also probably doomed the Minotaur tribe by associating it with Homelands - there haven't been too many playable Minotaurs over the years.
