Somehow, I have this Mirage version of a Volcanic Dragon with a white border instead of the black one shown here... Oddity?

You're sure it's not a Sixth Edition printing? It might also be some sort of pre-constructed deck printing. A lot of the earlier ones -- like the gold-bordered Pro Tour Championship signature decks -- aren't on oracle.

@talzaroff It's from a premade Anthologies theme deck.
@Master-Crimson Chronicles has cards reprinted mostly from Legends but also some from Arabian Nights, Antiquities, and The Dark. No other sets.

Part of the Mirage Dragon cycle:
Pearl Dragon
Mist Dragon
Catacomb Dragon
Volcanic Dragon
Canopy Dragon
Amusingly, the red dragon is the most average of the cycle. Pearl and Canopy are both not very good(canopy is at least average and one of the few usable green dragons), Catacomb and Mist are both quite good, and Volcanic sits squarely in the middle.

@talzaroff: it could be a Chronicles card. The Chronicles set reprinted a whole bunch of cards from the older sets with their original expansion symbol, but a white border. I have some from Arabian Nights and Legends from this.
The card is good, but probably should have been uncommon. Uncommon dragons are so rare.

@Master-Crimson
You are right, should have been uncommon, and with M12 it is!
