@DarthParallax: It is true this card is powerful in multiplayer, but changing its rarity only affects multiplayer games if the players you play with only buy packs to get cards. Rarity is a tool for limited, never constructed, and for flavor only functionally matters on legends and planeswalkers. As you mentioned, he is powerful but not ridiculous in duels (not Duels, unless you're referring to Duels of the Planeswalkers, in which case rarity is even less of a concern...) so uncommon is not as ridiculous for the card's power level or flavor as your extremely long post posits.
I love this card. I was just thinking of building a zombie Horde Magic deck, and cards like this make that seem like a really fun idea.

I made a deck with this and 20 kill spells in it. This gets insanely big. It can be an 8/8 or more for just two mana.

@sarroth
I highly recommend making a horde deck. They are absolutely tons of fun. I've had one for about 8 months now, but I am finding it a little stale. To spice it up, I'm upping the card count to 200. It's gonna be a blast.
This card would be cool in a horde deck, but it is honestly a little weak for one. It would be a fun addition though, no doubt. Just run 1 or 2 and put less other vanilla creatures in the deck. Either that or base your deck off of this kind of effect. Undead Alchemist would be bananas with this guy.
As for the card outside of horde, I'm actually considering him for a pauper EDH deck as the commander. It would be really funny lol. Lots of removal, zombie tribal, with him as just a beater/finisher.
5/5 because art is epic, and his ability is inspiring.

I need four of these to replace my highborn gouls.

Budget-Goyf; grows with your opponent's grave and works well in a control deck (as you'll be helping your opponent fill their grave with creatures.)
Works in decks Goyf can't too, such as R/B and works against them since they would have to hate on their own grave; with Goyf and KotR rely on to be effective.
He's also a zombie, making him part of a very powerful tribe at a low cost; ensuring he can see play in some format somewhere.

This guy + Dredge/Bitter Ordeal = bigger than a 'Goyf?

Might be a good idea to get them while you can folks. I think when Born of the Gods comes into play this guy will see quite a bit of fun when combined with consuming aberration and Phenax.

This guy can be an absolute beast if your opponent has no removal handy. Combos really well with the likes of Balustrade Spy, and Mirko Vosk. Great fit for any mill deck!
