Excellent art, definitely.
Fun design, too.

Great card and surprisingly overlooked. It's a fine middle-of-the-road evolve creature that starts out a bit weakly even after evolving it once. However, the strength of this card is the threat of activation of it's special ability in combat. This card makes it hard to block, especially so if you're simic and have some bloodlust cards as well.
Also, this is a great example of a card that will win you the lategame. It'll stay small enough and act as a makeshift glorious anthem!

Best card to combine him with in my drafts was probably the Frilled Oculus. Two open mana can result in many different paths!

Consider how many ways there are to manipulate +1/+1 counters, I actually don't find this one too impressive. There are Simic Guildmage, for one, that could do the same for cheaper and no tap.
