This would be devastating against Gruul!

Well, outside limited it's too unreliable. You don't even know if your opponent does have creatures in his deck. In limited, this is so-so. Removal that only works if you already had removal (or creatures die in combat) is not that great. If you run a mill deck though it's pretty good in limited.

Sure there's better out there but this card is fine. I think it deserves more than its low rating.

Outright kills most things, locks down most other things, and makes life VERY scary, all for .
I can dig it.

My friend plays a Splinterfright deck that my grixis deck occasionally has trouble with. Not anymore! :D

GILBIC. Therefore this card gets 2-3 stars out of five.

At a draft yesterday, I was playing Orzhov. While this card was a reluctant pick at first, it quickly turned out to be one of the all stars of my removal package. Next to 3 Executioner's Swing and a couple of Smite's and Grisly Spectacle, this was probably one of my favorite common picks by the end of the night. It's quite decent removal in limited.

Decent limited removal option. Great in Dimir with all the milling. Also strong late game in Orzhov, even if the card doesn't kill the creature it still activates all your Extort for only B.
3/5

Got one of these in a clunky as all hell Dimir deck. It's entertaining when you spend the grand total of to drop a Firemane Avenger.
