Eh. In the end it's just a beatstick. I'm not against beatsticks or anything, but black usually doesn't play to them as well as, say, green or red.

Very solid for heavily-black decks. Played one in the pre-release and it did me well more than once. Not a GREAT card by any means -- but a perfect common for a Limited environment.

Holy crap

Pox can use this off of Bloodghasts, Liliana of the Veil or Nether Spirit.

Played this card last night in a tournament and it failed to impress...too many cards to counter the benefits of this card...it made it two turns before the fated, "Dark Betrayal" came a knocking and let the dogs out...I was running a RB draft and had to watch the big boy sleep with the fishes...not sure of the long term usefulness of this titan...

If this was 5BB, it would be modern playable.

Do note that your opponent's can't kill one of your black permanents in response to this being cast to increase the cost- the cost is calculated and can't change when this is actually cast unlike how most devotion cards work. If you suspect someone has this/ know they do from previous games make sure to use your instant removal before they even have the chance to cast this.

Affinity for black mana symbols. Actually, this is a pretty solid common if you are drafting base black or especially mono-black. You aren't usually realistically going to be casting this for {B}, but it wouldn't be remotely out of the question to be casting it for {3}{B} which is way better than most black giants in the common slot.
Oh and I guess he's not bad in pauper as well.

I finally got to play this guy in casual yesterday, and it did exactly what I wanted it to. One came out for four mana, and another came out for one. It was fast and dangerous. Devotion is a nice mechanic. The old school player in me loves the idea of a drawback-less 4/5 coming out for 4 mana, and when it's even less, it's frightening. Works well with all of the character nerfing auras in this block.
