Everytime i look at this guy I like him a little bit more. Hes not outstanding or anything but he seems like a solid little limited dummy. A little defensive guy with a fairly strong upside, and a pretty prime bestow target if I do say so myself. His value only grows as the game goes longer.
I doubt hes going to break any boundaries but I have high hopes for this guy in the coming limited format.

This is a nice card, but frankly it's a bit of a flavour fail. I thought all the zombies in Theros were Returned? You know, gold masks, no faces - then there's this guy, who is just 'generic walking-corpse with a stick'. Come on, creative.

The problem with most of the inspire creatures is their low toughness. There's not typically a safe way to tap them. The cycles of auras and instants that grant tap powers help a lot, and so does Springleaf Drum, but the regenerate here fills a lot of gaps. Too bad it costs so much, though.

And yet he doesn't combo or synergize at all with Tymaret.

This guy is neat. Regenerating taps him (if the shield is actually used). Thus you can keep him back as a blocker. If the enemy swings in with a scary fat guy you block with the servant and regenerate him, then drain your foe for 1 at the start of your turn. Basically a block-smack upside the head combo there. Very elegant, plus he plays nice with many other cards from the set. I like it.

In a grinding limited format like Theros, this can become pure value.

This might see play. This.. might see play. Each time this untaps you get a life difference of -1/+1 which is kind of like shocking your opponent. Outside of Limited or perhaps Pauper I'm not sure I see this getting much play. However, in Limited it's a decent blocker that regenerates and ensures both damage and lifegain. Not bad for a common.

This is quite similar to Scholar of Athreos. A 3-cost blocker with an ability that makes every opponent lose one life while you gain the total AND it's also an underling of a key figure in the Theros storyline.
Similarly to Scholar, Servant's got a temple in the background. However, I can't tell which one it is. It doesn't look like Temple of Malice, which is the Tyramet-coloured one.
(for those who don't know, you can see Temple of Silence in Scholar's background.)

One of very few cards made that actually would have benefited from a lower toughness.

He may serve Tymaret, but I think we all can agree he's swinging for Athreos's team.
