By far one of the best counterspells printed. Every player who has played legacy has run afoul of this card, and it has frustrated millions. it is a pity they are probably not going to reprint it.

this is still the only art for counterspell not yet released online. very depressing because its by far my favorite.

It takes awhile for WoTC to realise that even though the card isn't broken, the rarity is, because it affects limited play. Check Fireball. It used to be common, but was raised just because of limited play.

Somehow a common. Tell that to Lay Bare. Picked up 2 of these for $.25 a few years back, bet they're worth more or will be worth more soon.

Other than Mana Drain, I can't think of a card that I'd rather always be able to play.

This card is the staple counterspell (closely followed by Mana Leak). This is a must included into ANY blue deck.
Pretty good art work too ^_^

Strictly worse than Mana Drain-I'M KIDDING, I'M KIDDING! Anyways, this version was the first Counterspell I ever saw/owned and holds a special place in my heart. Even seeing all the other versions, this one still has my favorite art, both for nostalgia value and illustration of the concept.
