I can see this in a small niche of white control decks... but that's it.

If your losing by enough for this to return to your hand, then this is not going to save you.
A waste of a card slot in any deck. If you want to save yourself from death, play a
4cmc Sorcery.

This card seems like it can be used for many reasons. For combos, for delaying your death, just plain life gain, and many more.
