Perhaps try giving him double strike?
You would only flip a coin for one of them, which guarantees that you break even. Even better if you have lifelink or some instant-speed buff to throw on him after the first strike combat step.

Not very good, is he? Too big a down-side.

Oddly enough, the only copy of this I own has the name crossed out and "Angry French Guy" Written under it. No clue why.
