Decent with Leyline of Anticipation, tokens, or guys who just die as already mentioned.

With the leyline you respond to removal by nuking your dude 1 mana, 2-for-3ing them in the process. They can probably reprint this as an instant these days.

EDIT: I realized this is also another uncounterable sacrifice cost; making it good with Abyssal Persecutor or things you need to trigger with dying abilities.

While there are probably better uses for Memnites, Ornithopters, and Phyrexian Walkers, getting this off on T1 feels so good.
