if the ability was not "you may" then there would be a very fun win combo where you Donate it to an opponent while you have Underworld Dreams out and then you make them draw a card. They would draw, take damage, then draw again, then take damage, etc.

This card, more than most others, displays the issue with a single rating system - in standard Magic, this is too expensive.
In EDH, though, this card is a great demotivator for people doing damage to you. And at 5 mana, it's not too expensive there.

Looks like the mask provides him with the infrared vision. Now he just needs a gun that can shoot through walls.

In a vacuum, this card sucks. However, I've noted that this card synergizes fairly well with Fumiko the Lowblood. Just block the biggest thing, and whatever gets through gets you some cards. Only really viable in slow formats (like EDH), though.

I always thought this was a very good card, so I am surprised to see how lowly it's rated (2.691, at time of writing). How can this be rated so much lower than Mind's Eye? Both are really only good in multiplayer and slower formats; both are sources of repeated card advantage. The only difference is that Mind's Eye is a little more innocuous, so it might be less likely to be blown up. But, then again, Mind's Eye is considered good whereas this isn't, so maybe opponents would be more likely to go after that than this.

For every creature that whacks you, you get a card. How is that not worth 5 in slow formats with gazillions of creatures and plenty of spot-removal for the big, singular threats?

It also might be good against burn decks, depending on how quickly you can get it into play. Since burn typically does 2-3 points of damage, you'll get hit 6-10 times before you die, and that's a lot of card advantage. Pair it... (see all)

Good ability but too expensive. You can draw multiple cards for multiple creatures too I think, but again, too expensive.

At this cost it should let you dagage yourself for some cards, could be a lot cheaper.

In the right deck, this can actually be quite good. For instance, if you have this and Words of Worship out, it's almost impossible to kill you.
