Sigh.
I miss manaburn decks.

Not anymore with Magic 2010 rule changes, bowwing. Aside from that, your opponent can most often make use of the mana to pay the colorless parts in the casting cost of his/her spells. You have a point here, though. You can most often make at least better use of the mana than him.

4.5/5. Although there's rumors that mana burn will go away in M10, this card has other uses. Particularly--getting 2 green a turn. Sure it gives it to your opponent. And gives it first. But that's only useful if they can actually use that colorless mana/green. There are many good legacy decks out there that just can't use both green in a single turn, meaning this card offers the green player the significant advantage. Also, back in the day, this card would often find itself played just for the 2 points of damage via mana burn.

real game I just had...
Turn 1: I play this card
Turn 2: I play Garruk Wildspeaker and Llanowar Elves using garruk's ability
Turn 3: I play Rampaging Baloths, THEN play a land, giving me a 4/4 baloth
Turn 4: I play Pelakka Wurm.
Turn 5: I use Garruk's final, then play Overwhelming Stampede. My biggest creature is a 10/10 pelakka wurm, so all my creatures get a total of +13/+13 (with garruk's ability). And they all have trample.
I bring my opponent down to -24 life in one turn. I would've hurt them even harder if they didn't have a Phantom Nomad, which screws over trample.

Great in a casual green deck that ramps up to big mana creatures or sorcery's. I use it in a saproling deck to get constant 2nd turn Spontaneous Generation for 6 tokens followed by a turn three Coat of Arms.

A fantastic card for mana burning decks.

Opalescence
Followed Footsteps
Paradox Haze
Just sayin' :-)
I did that just for kicks in my enchantment EDH deck once. Kinda got out of hand, every turn people were getting like 12 G added to their pool lol. Kinda hard NOT to find uses for that. Thankfully, I was hiding behind an almost impenetrable wall of enchants, so I ended up winning.

Some pretty decent ramp, although it has to be to make up for giving your opponents mana and also doing nothing but providing mana.
LLanowar elves, for example, gives you a body and doesn't let your enemy use it.
Balanced and interesting- I can't hate it.
