I don't know Bello, I wouldn't say that it "doesn't combo with Gilder Bairn." The artifact may be at its best in the early game, but going from 3 counters to 6 and then dropping a Silvos, Rogue Elemental on turn 4 never hurt anyone's feelings, lol.
I agree though, this thing is probably at its best in the 2nd or 3rd turn, dropping solid creatures while you use available mana to either create a numerical advantage or remove threats.
4.5/5

Simply one of the most broken and insane cards ever printed. Good example of how nuts things were in Darksteel, years after the lessons of urza's bock were supposedly learned.
As another poster says, breaks just about every convention in magic. For 1.

"this card is a really good way to get progenitus out"
Ya, while ur waiting 10 turns to get our ur win con, I would have found a way to remove the artifact, or simply beat you to a bloody pulp in that time.
Not good for getting out high cost creatures, but amazing at getting out lower cost creatures.

As of June 28th 2010, I did a search for Trinket Mageable artifacts, and sorted it by community rating, descending...
This is rated more highly than Mox Pearl.
...what.
