You have to admit, you never thought you'd lose to a giant creature with a head that small.

He's a good Tinker target. He's also the 99.99% Thirst for Knowledge target.

Darksteel Colossus is very cool, but suffers from a problem common to all certifiable bombs. Either he wins you the game, or your opponent pulls out a Swords to Plowshares or whatever and you lost at least a turn, and possibly more, and are probably going to lose the game. I like risk/reward mechanics a lot, but not so much when the game hinges on them, as often happens with the Colossus. It feels like you were cheated out of a victory when an opponent plays a big, self-protected creature you can't deal with, yet it's not much fun when your big, self-protected creature gets killed before it even gets a hit in. The whole thing seems a bit boring to me, like it doesn't encourage interesting play or deckbuilding.

And yet we come back to a key issue: Darksteel Colossus is just so damn cool. It looks like Ted Hughes' Iron Man crossed with Russel from Gorillaz. That's a win in my book!

Look out for blightsteel colossus in mirrodin besieged. Same as this, but it costs 12 colorless and has infect. Wow.
The link won't work now, check back next week or something.

One of the mostest awesomest creatures EVER. Such a pain in the butt, such a game winner. Of course he's vulnerable to some removal cards, but why think a card is weak just because it's vulnerable to something? For every card out there there's another that will negate it, so why build a deck around anything at all? Might as well not play at all if you're afraid of Counterspells, Swords to Plowshares, Unsummon, and yes, even Darksteel Colossus.
