Not a bad card, but not exactly amazing either. I admit it got me with the Lotus name in middle school, but I still play it in casual for mana ramping in multiplayer.

In any matchup where you can stall the game out, this obviously works well. And there are a lot of ways to do that, especially in artifact focused decks.

works very well to help bust out an eldrazi
@karmaspayment. I didn't say it was the ONLY way to bust out an eldrazi, just one useful way. Also this card is $2 and Mana Crypt is $50 at the time of this writing.

Not bad. Especially since, as with all cards with counters, you can pull a Thrummingbird out and destroy things. And Clockspinning can theoretically be used as a mana fixer.

Fantastic mana source and mana fixer in Commander. Less useful anywhere else, since the pay-in of upfront means you have to wait around quite a while for it to give you a significant advantage over Lotus Petal.
Still a card worth not forgetting about.

Another card that tries to capture the attention of players with the phrase Lotus. Not an entirely bad card but it is a far cry from the Black Lotus.

How is this card not higher in score?
I use this as a giant middle finger with any spell.. Fireball, Death Grasp, Orochi Hatchery, Lavalanche or ramping into an Akroma or any other big face smasher.. It only costs {2} so 8 mana at turn 5, 12 mana turn 7...
Let alone if you pair it with Gilder Bairn, Doubling Season or a Paradox Haze.
Love this card, 4.5/5

Not really, if you want to bust out an eldrazi, use Metalworker, Sol Ring or Mana Crypt for useful excel. Although, only metal worker is not restricted/banned in formats.

I....can't believe it. NO WAY....they did it. They fixed Black Lotus. Gentleman, I DO believe this card is SAFE FOR STANDARD! And yet- still good. Does almost exactly what you need it to do. It'll be vulnerable while you wait to charge it up- but the pay off is plenty worth it. It's no Black Lotus. It's not even quite Lotus Petal. If it were, it wouldn't be safe to reprint. But this...this is merely great, not broken.
EDIT: Proliferate. Broken as hell. Get yours now.

Arguably the worst Neo-Lotus.
Lion's Eye Diamond may be even worse, but the right deck construction can still use it.
This would be *much* more usable with CMC 0 or even 1.
Compare with Lotus Bloom,
which will get you 3 mana just as fast, and costs 0, to boot.
Proliferate may give this card a purpose,
but that mechanic didn't exist when this was printed,
so I still contend it should cost 0 or 1.
Like LED, this is useful in the right deck,
but generally not as useful as Lotus Bloom.
