Best card to combine with is Godo, Bandit Warlord. Not just because he's a Legendary Red Creature but because he can summon it for free! Plus, it's his anyway.
I use it in a {R}{W} Spirit Samurai deck and it can end up also getting equipped to Brothers Yamazaki. Of course, other Legendary creatures including Red Spirits can also benefit greatly!

The orginal idea behind this card was that it was only of use to a limited number of red Legendary creatures. However with Lovisa Coldeyes and her Barbarian/Berserker/Warrior pump ability means that it has a place in deck built around her. With Kamahl, Pit Fighter, Jeska, Warrior Adept, Godo, Bandit Warlord and Lovisa all meeting the card requirements to get full use out of this card its not longer so bad. It still isn't Umezawa's Jitte, but what do you want their Barbarians and Barbarians just go...SMASH!

I use this card in my red/green equipment deck. Ideal on Jeska, Warrior Adept, or Godo himself, although he costs a bit more.

Playing this card on Jeska, Warrior adept will make a 6/4 trample, first strike, haste, that can tap to add to her own power or take out a weenie. This is legal because after blockers are declared you can tap cards, and use her effect.

@allmighty_abacus: It's only 4-mana for a continuous giant growth on the turn you cast it. And take note of your own post - It is a continuous giant growth. Giving one of your creatures +3/+3 is definitely worth it, IMO. And once in play, this gives any legend you cast a continuous +3/+3 for a measly addition of 1 mana for the cost. Also this is only an "overpriced legendary leonin scimitar" in the wrong deck.

Since it's only really good when used on red legends, this could either have been made slightly cheaper or simply provided more unconditional effects.
Even if all of it was unconditional (which would make this card again very powerful yet destroy the flavour of this card), it would not have been able to compete with the other infamous legendary equipment from Betrayers of Kamigawa.
Well, it's still not that bad with the most obvious card to combine with, though.
Downside here? The legend you're going to equip this with is already rather overcosted.

If this is in your deck and you play Godo, you get a 6/6, with trample for 7 mana and a second combat phases for it and your samurai. Seems like a pretty cool deal to me.

If I were ever in a situation where I had to make an improvised club from a log, I certainly wouldn't name it. I mean, it's a log. It's going to rot eventually. And even before then the chain will break. So what does he do with the next one? Does that become Tenza II? Hehe, sounds like some cr@p 80s action movie series. Tenza II- Godo's Retaliation, Tenza III- Godos' Vengeance, Tenza IV- Godo Bloody Godo.
Oh yeah, the card itself sucks. If you don't have red or legendary creatures out, it's just an overpriced legendary leonin scimitar. If you have a legend out, it's a total of 4 mana to give a creature a continuous giant growth. If you have a red guy out, it's 4 mana for a trampling scimitar. And even if you have a both ridiculous conditionals met, you just have a creature with +3/+3 trample. What if that creature gets blasted? Have fun trying to equip it to something else and getting a no doubt tiny effect.
Run Coloss... (see all)
