More like Hill Giant Octopus, amIright?
Man, I don't think I could design a vanilla octopus - they have so many spiffy abilities in real-life after all.

Don't think of it as vanilla, think of it as not having islandhome.

The "Giant" in this Octopus's name comes from it being a blue Hill Giant.

I remember one of the first decks I ever made had this and Angelic Blessing. I thought it was the coolest thing ever to have a huge flying octopus attacking my opponent. Ah, the good old days.

At least it can open giant jars.

Dammit WotC, I really want to make an octopus deck based around Quest For Ula's Temple, but you've only printed 2 octopi. And this one sucks.
Get on it.

Its a giant octopus that can crush ships and dominate the sea; shouldn't it be able to do more than simply be a vanilla 3/3?

3/5 simply because I love to see real (or semi-real in this case) creatures in Magic as well.

Strictly worse than Phantom Monster. Though I guess it can't be hit by Leaf Arrow?
