Doesn't measure up unless you build your deck around it. If you play it and a land, it might be 4/4. Compare with Chameleon Colossus for the same cost. Or Blastoderm, or Hunted Troll or Leatherback Baloth. Or, just for comparison's sake, Phyrexian Obliterator
And the article about this card was dumb, too. This card isn't really about "growing" because hand size don't generally grow over time. Rather, it decreases.
