Dang, at first i thought this card was just another run of the mill kind of card... until i put together my red/black land destruction deck! Just think, your opponent getting land screwed, over and over again! Instead of picking out all the awesome spells your opponent has, why not just make it so they can't play a damn thing and go for their lands!

For those who think that this card is expensive and weak, keep in mind that its only real competitor is Jace, the Mind Sculptor. The reason why Wizards tends to try to avoid fateseal effects (repeatable fateseal effects in particular) is because those effects can be really powerful. This might seem bad in comparison to Jace, and maybe so, but Jace is REALLY overpowered. Lurking Informant is still a very good card. Don't compare it to Jace; compare it to cards like Wand of Denial.
Also, if you look at the art, the person who the informant is preparing to ambush appears on the original art for Dark Confidant.
