Broken Fall is better. It has Gerrard.

. . . you are clearly one sided in the argument.
Sure pile of leaves protected Gerrard from falling.
How would that make sense when a sword plunged in to your chest or a fireball roasting your flesh?
Molting Skin not only signifies growth, but regeneration and rebirth.
Of course, bringing old mythological belief in order to interpret a card is a bit of stretch . .
but Broken Fall does not make much sense either.

No, this is called a functional reprint. Meaning it is the same card in all but name. And how many Magic cards make complete sense flavor-wise? Case in point, Rampage. That ability is spread so thin, I don't think even the designers know what it represents anymore. Do a quick search and look over some of the cards (especially from Legends) and tell me what it means. Anyways, this could be much worse. For example, it could be a sacrifice cost meaning it doesn't recur.
I think the best use for such a card is as a combo/draw engine. Drop a few enchantresses and go to down drawing your deck.

Reminds me of a certain scene in Poltergeist....... also, I feel like Nicholas Cage's face would be appropriate for this card.

Did anyone notice how this is identical to Broken Fall?

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw this.

The mechanic isn't that great- noncreature cards that do nothing but provide a regeneration trigger are overrated especially since most removal nowadays is focused on exiling creatures (ie path of exile, journey to nowhere, O-ring etc).
But I personally preferred the art from broken fall. It made since, flavor-wise. Gerrard gets knocked out of a tree and falls on a pile of leaves, breaking his fall. What happens here on this card? Snake people taught humans how to shed skin? How can one teach that? And even if you could, how would that negate getting a sword plunged in to your chest? Or a fireball roasting your flesh? GG Kamigawa, you done f.ucked up a harmless card.
