Turning it around, the Izzet guild could be criticized for being so focused on innovation that they lose some of the focus and drive that comes from having everyone working in unison towards a common goal. Sure, their experimentation will sometimes result in some new and interesting synergies, but they miss out on a different kind of synergy: the kind that arises from having every piece fitting together as one harmonious whole.

Flavor aside, this is a rather mediocre Naturalize variant. Nowadays it would probably be one mana cheaper, and even then would still be about average in power level. In a GW token deck, I'd probably prefer using Sundering Vitae, Aura Shards, and/or Gleeful Sabotage instead.

Interesting for Limited. I'm more of an Orim's Thunder or Dismantling Blow; kicker is a better mechanic if you plan to abuse Sunforger in Numot, the Devastator EDH.

All the colors are logical. Do they all act in a way we agree with? No, that's why people prefer colors that fit their mood or their mindset; their logic. When black makes a sacrifice for power the logic is that the sacrifice is worth the power; whether he turns out to be correct or incorrect it was logic that guided him.

When the white mage obliterates everything he assumes (logically) that if everything is dead and gone there will finally be peace again. The Red mage, chaotic as he is, loves destruction and logically decides that red magic suits his needs (as he blows up lands, artifacts and sets the world afire.) He needs not act in a way YOU deem logical or correct; he's chosen the mana for which will suit him; which requires logic. It requires thought.

Even the red mage who sows chaos (while he could well be crazy) is doing so because he enjoys it; there's no reason to assume that non-determinism => alogical.

At any rate, still a sideboard card unless you keep extra enchants h... (see all)

I love this card for a Rhys EDH deck.
It provides utility: destroying something your opponent likes
It provides tokens for Rhys to double: 2 1/1's
It requires less colour fixing than the equivalent cards: 2x Sprout + Disenchant
It provides card advantage: all of that for 1 card

Any Green or White+ deck should love this

Ooh, I like this debate! You all get 5 stars for not being trolls! Gotta make a forum for this...

Passionate, yes. Logical? I don't think so. Being logical is a Blue + White trait, when knowledge combines law. Blue represents knowledge and in the heads of a Izzet mage it often means passion for knowledge, or uncontrolled exploration of knowledge at all cost.

Given the storyline of Ravinca, most of Izzet's inventions were done with more fail trials than necessary, if only they would halt and think for a moment, not testing all possibilities at once. Kaboom!

@Cyberium- you misrepresent the word "logic." There is not only one kind. An Izzet guildmage is logical not because he is cold and calculating, which he is not, but because he is willing to find out what he can through spontaneous experimentation to advance the guild. They don't blow themselves up if it wouldn't achieve anything! But they are perfectly capable of blowing themselves up in the pursuit of advancement.

An ok card. Superb flavor text however, I like how the Izzet mage, who is passionate, logical, and seeks personal knowledge, criticizes the communist, group-oriented beliefs of the Selesnyans.
