I had the same issue with the artwork, too :D
While the creature type "Ship" still existed i'd have liked to see this card with that type instead.
I thought these were some sort of animated magical ships since in addition they weren't manned^^
Now seeing that the fish is the actual troublemaker, it also makes more sense why this creature is 4/1.
4 power for two mana sounds tempting, yet despite the fact that blue has a bunch of ways to convert your opponent's lands, it was never worth the trouble to try making any of such unappealing Island-based creatures useful.
Although keep in mind that this could still serve as a cheap powerful one-use defender like Cynder Wall or Stoic Ephemera, but i'd refrain from using it for that sole purpose.
Interestingly, i think Islandhome was the only keyword ability ever to get removed from the game.

That fish is creepy. Good example of art being better than the card. I guess its ok to block with but thats already it. If it gets blocked its most likely dead and since it has no trample its not even gonna be worth attacking with it if your opponent has just 1 little creature waiting to block it with.
2.5/5

I have this card and played it a number of time, not until I saw it online did I actually notice the fish in the background of the water, I always just thought it was a picture of 2 boats....

If this had Islandwalk as well, it'd be pretty good. As is... there are worse islandhome creatures, but that's not saying much.

Dandan ate all the people on the boats, now he wants to eat you!

@Mode - What about banding and flanking (okay, they're not obsoleted by the rules, but they're still gone for the most part)?
As for the fact that it's basically a 4/1 wall, that doesn't mean much...it can trade with things much larger (including dragons, demons, angels, giants, etc) and you're only out two mana.

Actually one of the better art pieces in early Magic, which is pretty stunning considering it comes from Drew freaking Tucker- but damn, as soon as you see that thing in the water, you s*** bricks!

For the longest time, I thought this creature was two boats. I didn't even see the fish.

Damn, GainsBanding, I JUST noticed the fish now that you pointed it out, lol. To think, I STILL thought it was the boats!
