My brother hated this card and groaned every time it hit the table on my side. The regen prevents it from getting burned after it kills something.
I guess silvos, rogue elemental is technically better, but the Child isn't a legend and doesn't have the personal nostalgia value so i'll go with this every time.

This was my first rare, and the reason I fell in love with MTG. Great finisher too, and there's always the good old Llanowar Elves to pay for the upkeep.

Not bad. Regeneration is kind of redundant on a 7/7, but it's a great finisher.

Wow. An old almost vanilla that's actually decent. Anyway, shouldn't its "pay during upkeep" clause have been errata'd to echo ?
EDIT: never mind me, just babbling to myself.

I rated it as a 3/5; which I think means I'm getting greedy. It's mostly that upkeep cost. Without that he'd be an easy 3.5 or 4. That trample is mighty impressive; but I think I'd rather just chance the destruction with Terra Stomper. Upkeep costs are hard to keep up with against some decks that start eating permanents and things.

Very playable in its day. Now I think I'm going with Terra Stomper with Asceticism doing the protecting/regenerating.
