@Gibbons:

No, because in the Magic Comprehensive Rules, a "card" is defined to be one from the Magic game. As in, real ones.

Come on. That's just silly.

Forget Leveler, you could imprint Research onto an Isochron scepter and use it over and over again to increase your library to 250 cards for Battle of Wits!

That'll surprise your opponent!

Yes you can use either side when cascading into this because the rule says
"If you exile a split card with Cascade, check if at least one half of that split card has a converted mana cost that's less than the converted mana cost of the spell with cascade. If so, you can cast either half of that split card."

Development is an INSTANT, which is why it draws 3 cards instead of 4 like Tiding. For a control deck, having mana open during opponent's turn is an advantage.

Is it just me or is there a trend these days that people don't see the difference between Instant and Sorcery? So many people commented on so many cards about how one is weaker than the other without looking at the timing advantage.

I once used this in response to my friend casting Telemin Performance on me. Shuffled four copies of Phage the Untouchable into my deck. Hilarity ensued :P

@Kelrath: No, because if a player borrows one of your decks, he'll count as the owner of that deck when a spell or ability refers to ownership. Otherwise as simple cards as unsummon would have very funky uses or incredibly complicated wording.

@Tezz: Yep, that's how it works. Your opponent decides whether you get a 3/1 token or a card draw, and they make the decision three times. So you get some combination of three tokens/draws in total.

All the comparisons to Tidings are missing one factor: this is an instant, not a sorcery. You can cast this during your opponent's turn and get that mana back rather than burning five during your own turn. It's much closer to the new Jace's Ingenuity from M11 but isn't as reliable a draw card, since your opponent has the option to let you have those tokens instead, so you'll get the worse of the two options, whatever that may be. (Then again, getting up to nine power for five mana at instant speed is pretty good, too.)

So much argument about this card and cascade, yet no mention of how to use it.
Accumulated knowledge
Æther Burst
Flame Burst
Kindle
This could be a very fun deck. more fun in casual anyway so you can have 8 (or more!) copies of each card in your grave suddenly. In other games you would put three of each in your sideboard.

How would cascade work for this say from a bloodbraided elf? Would research go off?
