Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.

This card is referencing Wall of Diffusion as well as Wall of Fire.

The best red wall ever printed.

One of the best red defenders. I like it better than Angelic Wall to say the least.

A smaller Time Spiral version fo Wall of Fire that can block things with Shadow. Weaker, but cheaper and more versatile.
3.5

I love the anti-shadow flavor. It burns so brightly, shadows don't exist.

Heh, cool, I meant to search "The Wall" in my Google toolbar but my touchpad glitched and and I got this. Pretty good, but all in all it's just another brick in The Wall. 3.5/5

Regarding the ruling about this not being able to block Shadow creatures if the wall itself gains Shadow:

Consider Reach. Reach means "this creature can block creatures with flying as though it had flying." Reach gives a creature the power to do something as though it had some other ability.

Look again at this Aetherflame Wall. It blocks creatures with an ability as though they did not have that ability. The wall doesn't have the power to do something as though it had some other ability, it has the power to ignore another creature's ability. So when a Shadow creature attacks, Aetherflame wall ignores the fact that it has Shadow.

Now give Aetherflame Wall itself Shadow. Shadow creatures can't block non-Shadow creatures. This guy treats all attacking creatures like non-Shadow creatures, so if it gains Shadow(a thing that prevents it from blocking non-Shadow), it can't block anything anymore.

Not intuitive, but that's how it works.

Absolutely awesome. Cheap blocker with firebreathing! Sligh me now, haha!! If your burn deck is using all instants, you can save your mana until until the end of your opponent's turn.

I don't understand the logic of the ruling: "If AEtherflame Wall gains shadow, it won't be able to block any creatures (not even those with shadow)." I could understand Shadow being useless to it, or even nullifying the card's special blocking ability, but it doesn't make sense for Shadow to render it completely incapable of blocking.

EDIT: actually, nvm... this wall is awesome. I forgot that you can use the ability as much as you want. 5 mana gives it +5/+0
