3 toughness makes it tough enough to block and kill a large percentage of shadow creatures without dying itself. If your play-group is heavily into Shadow, he's an OK card to sideboard.

An odd flavor cousin to Emberwilde Augur.

A white cleric deck with Master Apothecary and Order of Whiteclay will give you a nice live/damage preventing combo. Nice...

Interesting art. I can dig it.

As for function, there are better shadow creatures.

3/5. It's not bad. Just not great.

It's not horrible. It can withstand pingers (unlike Soltari Foot Soldier) and might eat a burn spell that would be headed for your face, or can be turned into life as a last desperate attempt to live.

Is it worse than many of the Tempest white shadow creatures? Yes, but it's still playable.

I love its versatility. Keep shadow-plinking, then sac it when you need to.

How can this thing have like 3 stars? It's horrible. I mean, if you have a creature with shadow, it's supposed to be aggressive, because it's basically unblockable, and can't basically block either. One power is not aggressive. Three toughness sucks too, because it can't block the huge majority of creatures. And the sacrifice part is garbage, because you can only use it during your upkeep. If you could sacrifice it in response to a removal spell it would be better. But like this?

Kinda cool in a cleric deck perhaps

Nice art, but in other ways kind of okay card.
