Hey, this guy performed very solidly in nigh-creatureless control decks.

Answer to flavour: Phyrexian obliterator ("blessed perfection").

Solid guy for a deck that doesn't want to play many creatures anyway. Acknowleding that 3/3 creatures for CMC 3 are the usual thing today (at least in green), he would probably have some juicier stats if this hefty drawback would be printed on a card again. Play with Aether Vial to offset the drawback.

I love how the newer magic players don't understand the concept of a drawback. You have to realize that back in Weatherlights, 3/4 for 3 was freaking huge and you were actually able to play decks with less than 20++ creatures in it.

By the way: His hand is just showing you that you're about to get knocked for 3(!) in your face.

First of since he is colorless paying 3 for a 3/3 is even a good deal, 3/4 is all the better.

Of course he has a huge drawback so in most cases it isn't worth playing.

If I was to use him I would use him in a blue/white deck with donate and pacifism.

While some people don't understand why this was good back in the day, some of you also don't understand most people see it with modern eyes, so a 2/5 rating isn't that wrong. It's actually better, but not by a lot considering modern creatures.

I could see this being a good choice to birthing pod away.

Excellent, if he's the only creature in your deck.

Another interesting way to play this is with Endless Whispers, just let it die and forbid your opponent to play creature spells... and then play with a bunch of Tokens ;)
