I understand that I am commenting on another person's comment that occurred over a year ago, but a rule as I understand it has changed since that previous post and I feel obligated to point this out.

If you are attacking with Cinderbones and a creature with deathtouch is blocking, or blocking an attacking creature with deathtouch, the {1}{B} cost for the regenerate ability only needs to be paid once. This is because deathtouch is a state-based action that occurs when a creature deals damage to another creature. Deathtouch triggers during the combat damage step of the combat phase, and the next time the game's state-based actions check occurs is not until the end of the combat damage step (this is different than pre-M10 rules). Thus the lethal damage from a creature with power greater than 1 and the deathtouch apply to the creature and resolve as state-based actions at the same time and are treated as a single destruction event, that only a single regenerating shield is needed to re... Sarroth, it's easier to say that a creature can only die once via combat damage, deathtouch or otherwise. Regenerate means it's not dying from that source, simple enough. I wonder why Cinderbones is rated so low though? He's got plenty of flavor, with wither, regenerate, and skeleton-ness. That, and he's called Cinderbones. Well, then again, not many people run skeleton tribal.

Used to drive me CRAZY when I first started playing...would be much better as a 2 mana with 1 mana regenerate...still, I love wither, one of my fav abilities, also combos well with double/first strike, as does deathtouch

the art is so awesome, why can't this card be better

1/1 for three mana is bad.
Two mana to regenerate is bad too. So if I block a creature once with it, and want this guy to survive, I have paid five mana already? Ugh...
Sure, wither on a regenerator is nice. But I'd rather spend two or three mana once to destroy whatever attacks me, instead of spending two mana each turn, to block it. That is, if it doesn't have trample, or landwalk, or flying, or protection from black... Not to mention that if the attacker got first strike or double strike, the wither is useless. And if the attacker got wither too, the regeneration is useless. And if the attacker got deathtouch, I have to pay 4 mana to regenerate this guy...

The card might be ok in limited, but I wouldn't play it even in casual constructed decks.

I think this card is really cool, drudge skeletons was always a nice blocker, & everytime somebody attacks into him they get a scar for their trouble.

just a more expensive drudge skeleton. also, shouldn't it be a black-red hybrid?
