I don't like the ability much at all. The classic use of it would be as response to removal, but its not all the time you get hit with Dead Ringers or Reckless Spite when cards like Damnation and Overwhelming forces and day of judgement exist. Shroud doesn't help with any of those.
A creature that supplies an activated ability that protects against Wrath effects would not be too powerful. It would play the metagame clock in a cool way but not in a way to make it overpowered.
Maybe a creature with "cost: Exile me, and return me at the beginning of your next end step. If you do, Second Sunrise at the beginning of your next end step."

Oh boy... one of those "love it or hate it" cards... At First glance it looks better than it is, but it's still not bad...

A 3/3 flyer for 5.. meh.. could do better. Pay three and all your creatures gain shroud... only so/so.
I would rather the card said "UG: Target creature you control gains shroud"

Cost wise, its another one of those that is hard to judge, it looks to be priced exactly right, which would make it useless... but still...

I don't think this card is really all that great. I'd rather pay less to give one or two of my creatures shroud with something like sylvan safekeeper or vines of vastwood because my opponent will most likely only be targeting one or two creatures per turn.

@ Thisprofilemocksyou,
I don't think you understand what shroud does. A creature with shroud will be destroyed by effects that "destroy all creatures" because those effects don't target specific creatures. So wrath of god, day of judgment, damnation and nevinyrral's disk will still destroy your creatures even if you've given them shroud. MtG rules are conveniently literal so unless a card specifically says "target" in reference to the permanent(s) it intends to effect, shroud is meaningless.

I agree with Warrior77 and Atrues. It should have Exalted, and it should target only. All creature gaining shroud is not usually very effective. It would be a good addition if it gave all of your creatures shroud until the next upkeep so tapping all mana for him isn't going to leave him and your other creatures wide open, or it had its own shroud. Nice flavor on the art, most aven are 'normal bird' like and fighters, but the Aerie Mystics are smart owls that protect.

Having fought several in a recent draft, they aren't as useful as they may seem at first glance. Its controller was an old regional veteran, and he never used the shroud ability, simply because there was never a good time. But for a 3/3 flier was 5, its not bad.

If I'm playing a white limited deck, this goes in just because it is a 3/3 flier for 5. I like how it can shut down black and red removal, though I don't really see it happening very often.

My favourite deck at the minute is Bant amd ~I have 4 Aerei mytics but never use them, i alwyas look at them and wish they had exaled also, if they did they would be an instant addition to my deck, as for the shroud ability though although it looks good the problem with and creat ability shroud like effects is that your opponent wont use any burn/removal etc. until your tapped out anyway, so always look at these creat type abilities as a way of buying time when your not tapped out

Aerie Mystics have a solid body and evasion, and for a relatively low activation cost grant all your creatures shroud for the duration of the turn. The Mystics are particularly synergistic with Bant's exalted ability (which doesn't target) and useful against the spot removal which is so prevalent in today's meta. The Mystics have a lot of competition for roster slots in competitive Bant decks, however, and probably won't see much constructed play.

A decent card with an activated ability that can actually come in useful when playing against decks with removal in them. But most Bant decks today can win a game with incredible speed, leaving the cost heavy Aerie Mystics grounded with no where to fly.

Pricey but powerful. I'm a fan of shroud, and this can do the job well.

And, as said above, 5 for 3/3 isn't bad.
