I love the Oracle Ruling: "This is not an island."

What happens in Wak-Wak, stays in Wak-Wak.

It's because it virtually shuts down flying decks. Think Maze of Ith, only their creature is still tapped, and can be killed in combat. It's similar to Singing Tree, if I remember correctly, only this is for flying creatures. Hence it's somewhat expensive.

I really enjoy how there are people actually evaluating this card's power level
when it's called the Island of Wak-Wak
Oh, Magic players, I love you all so.

Against most decks, this is nearly as good as a Maze of Ith which is rated as 4.745 stars at this time. Compared to similar effects such as Maze of Shadows, Scarecrow, Singing Tree it's at least a 3.9-4.2 card. I think some very old rare cards get too little respect sometimes. Trust me, you'd play this if you owned it.

I search for island, expecting to find just a few cards.
"Okay, Island, Moonring Island, Snow Covered Island, Tropical Island, Island of Wak-WHAT THE F***??!! What is up with that name?
And yes, this would be near-universally played in standard today for hating on Squadron Hawk, Baneslayer, Spinxes, Dragons, and assorted other creatures.

Perhaps one of the most bizarre cards in the game.

I think it's trying to hint to us to use it with Island Sanctuary...

Used to see this a lot back in the day alongside Moat, and later alongside Flood. Of course, that was back when a creature's power was determined by the last effect to modify it, i.e. if your opponent Giant Growthed their Serra Angel and then you activated Island of Wak-Wak, the Angel would wind up being a 0/7.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a pretty useful card, but it used to be just that much more useful. If it didn't go for $30+ I'd definitely use it in at least one of my decks.

I remember hearing about someone giving their Illusionary Presence Island of Wak-Wak Walk to break a stalemate...I'm guessing they did that for the lulz...
