This card saved me from a Shivan Dragon in a close game once. It was my opponent's turn and I was down to 3 life and no flying creatures out. I cast Giant Growth on my Tracker then used his ability. Saved my but, cuz I took him out the next turn.

I wouldn't use this card much anymore, though, mainly because I don't play many green decks these days.

Early arena creature. Shoots down lots of utility creatures and its mono-green removal. Pretty good.

He's got a built-in Predatory Urge. Good card.

His only creature type is 'Human'. Why? It seems to me that "Tracker" is a profesion that fits under the "Scout" type.

The reason it hasn't been errata'd is because it is functionally different. If they were to mostly reprint this card, for sure they'd use 'fight', but this doesn't actually fight. The difference is in what happens if this card leaves play with its activated ability on the stack. Fight requires both cards to be in play upon resolution (like the keyword 'exchange') while this only requires its target to still be on the battlefield and will still deal 2 or however much damage if it's bounced/killed/exiled/etc.

@Hovercraft: I'd gladly trade my Tracker for a Dark Confidant :)

One of my favourite creatures in early Magic days. Gorgeous art and great playability for a green deck to get rid of utility creatures.

Interesting card - Arena on legs, and green wasn't exactly known for having ways to kill creatures (even small ones) directly back then.

The sad fate for this card is that many utility creatures have a power of 2 now so they can kill him back. Case in point Dark Confidant. I'd use Tracker in conjunction with Kaysa or something... He can also be Shock'd.. Mogg Fanatic used to kill him back when damage used the stack. but anyway. Now he's better than he was there are more mana elves like Elvish Archdruid. Simply being able to trade 1-1 is fine if you can get him to slay more than one mana elf or somthing he is obviously more useful . And he attacks for 2 for 2G that is fair for its day.

Why hasn't it been errata'd to "Tracker fights target creature"?
