Not strictly worse than Serra Angel, less restrictive cost. Worse nonetheless. ^^

I'm collecting all the Angels in Magic, and this is one of the few I still don't have. I guess the people who have it don't bother searching their shoeboxes for it...

It's not strictly worse than Serra's Angel, because it's more splashable. None the less, Serra's Angel would most likely be the better choice in most situations.

This card's weakness foreshadowed the waning of Serra Angel. In my estimation, keyword abilities are usually worth more than +1/+1. If this, being more splashable than Serra, and thus fitting snugly in W/G, W/R, W/U, or W/x/y, to interact with all kinds of different creature improvements, was not good enough, it indicated that Flying and Vigilance alone were not good enough, but rather that Vigilance should be nearly as free as flying for Angels in order to be impressive.

Once you take away all the most powerful broken control spells, you can't win on a creature that only attacks and blocks- it needs more 'oomph' to make a real difference. 3/3 is very close to 4/4. I don't think 5/5 would be enough to make this creature a good rare, but it might make the cut as a finely playable uncommon.

It's a shame this isn't a WW2, or it would be well regarded indeed.

Even so, it isn't that bad. 4 for a 3/3 flyer, 5 for a 3/3 flyer with vigilance. That's not a good card, but it's not terrible.

Great art & flavor. Sadly due to power and balance, it is practically unplayable and isn't special either.
