@Zoah: Good job spotting a joke there. Anyways, it's black mana fixing, which isn't quite what I want to play in most B decks, but could have been ok at some point.

not to mention the art is weird and creepy, which is totally black.

Useful if you want to run Drain Life in a Black/Green ramp deck. Very limited in its appeal, but at least it has a use.

Helps you go infinite if for some reason this requires lots of black mana and all you have is lots of off-colour mana? Much like Orochi Leafcaller.

I can picture the Ebon Hand putting up "Help Wanted" adds to recruit mana-producing elves.

Why mono black? You will only have swamps anyway.

I think they stole these critters from Shadowmoor...

Another case where multiple artworks showing different creatures prevented the creature from getting the Human subtype later on.

On the other hand, you can say the Ebon Hand were equal-opportunity employers, whereas the Leitburians and Farrelites were racist bastard humans-first organizations. :P

Pretty darn good card back in the day along side the Urza lands from Antiquities. Tapping one Urza's Tower for 3 B mana still has a happy place in my heart.
