Chimney Imp's weapon of choice.

Who even rates this higher than 0.5? This card makes Rod of Ruin look good.

Does anyone find it strange that there are rulings for this card? That would imply that some used it in a tournament!

I love how even in the art, that cow is saying "what are you doing. this card sucks. burn it."
I really badly want to buy about 100 of these and just leave them all around my local card store to *** people off.
Maybe one day I'll own a card store and I can have hundreds of these sitting under my counter where my rares usually are on April Fools Day.

I use cards like these as the backs for my proxies in their sleeves. Using a land is kinda wasteful when you can use cards like this. Mudhole, Wood Elemental, Barktooth Warbeard... every card has their use!

The artwork is an allegory:
The donkey that gets attacked is a player who gets punished for being dumb enough to use this card.
The boomerang stands for his reasoning whose flaws he tries to repress but which will eventually return.
Which means, the donkey himself was the one who threw the boomerang.

I conclude: the card is for new players to make them understand (the hard way) what cards not to put in a deck :P

There are many older cards which read as hideously inefficient today, but were somewhat forgivable at a time when WotC didn't know the game as well as it does today, or were experimenting with a new mechanic. I can at least understand where they were coming from in most cases.

What the hell is Razor Boomerang's excuse?

For a card from (at this writing) the newest set, this is inexplicable. It's so obviously horrid it doesn't even have the excuse of being a skill-tester. If it didn't return to your hand, it still wouldn't see constructed play and would be at most a mid-pack pick in draft; as printed, it's a complete waste of cardboard.

Equip to Orcish Bloodpainter to keep your opponent guessing. Will you pay 5 mana for 1 damage, or sacrifice a creature?
