I really like this card in limited. It helps you splash and makes sure you almost never have to mulligan when you have it in your opening hand.

About as good as its Ravnican counterpart, Civic Wayfinder. This is weaker, but cheaper as well. And if Civic Wayfinder is better than Borderland Ranger, then I'd say that this is the best.

A pretty acceptable replacement for Elvish Visionary in Eldrazi Elves, in my opinion. Of course we still have until Scars to see if there's something comparable, but if needed this isn't bad.

More like a replacement for Borderland Ranger. Pretty good, 1 mana less, but weaker body

Whenever I make a deck with Green in it, I always ether put Sylvan or borderland ranger in; which ever happens to fit the curve better. typically I (and I suspect most people) have three lands by turn three anyway. Guaranteeing that fourth turn land with either card is very nice.

Sylvan Ranger, meet the family! We've got the brothers Civic Wayfinder and Borderland Ranger. They're nice fellows once you get to meet them. There's Mrs Farhaven Elf that makes the most delicious pies. She's a wonderful lady to get to know.

And finally we have Uncle Pilgrim's Eye...

...nobody really cares about him.

An interesting card with really nice art. Not as good as Sakura-Tribe Elder which actually accelerates your mana, but as an elf this girl has a chance to do some damage when she sticks around. Card advantage and mana fixing attached to a body with a useful tribe - it will find a place in some decks. I'm glad they didn't make it a human this time, (Borderland Ranger I'm looking at you). At the very least I think it's an upgrade from the ranger because mana fixing is more important the earlier you do it. This also fits into your curve alongside Cultivate.

At first I was dissapointed that it wasn't a reprint of sakura-tribe elder, but then i realised that we're in standard and there are certain powerful mechanics to be abused IE: oracle of mul daya and lotus cobra

Technically replaces rampant growth except you can't play the land on the same turn, but I'd rather get a creature and have a land drop to cultivate with next turn anyways. I don't see how its really any worse than sakura tribe elder in the sense that while the elder was better, it wasn't that much better.. you still usually just chump blocked and sac.ed it for a land which is what you will be doing with the ranger. The ranger is also an elf so, elvish arch druid, nissa, and the like will have fun with that.
