This card plus Etherium Sculptor makes for some of the most insane mana acceleration blue will ever see.

This used to be the engine of my old artifact deck. Combine with things like Etherium Sculptor or Vedalken Archmage for lots of good times :D

According to Aaron Forsythe on his comment on Suntouched Myr, this was originally gonna give {2} but was changed to boost the sunburst mechanic. I guess that's nice enough, but it does make the card ludicrous in some situations, especially now that we have colored artifacts...

5/5!!! This fuels my artifact deck along with Mycosynth Lattice and Freed From the Real. Long story short, unlimited mana combo that can be pumped into a Prodigal Sorcerer with another Freed from the Real on it. :-)

That doesn't work for a two reasons:
1 Veldalken will only give mana that can be used for Artifacts, Crab Umbra is an Enchantment.
2 Training Grounds only decreases the cost of effects to creatures, Crab Umbra's ability is from the Enchantment, for instance, you can put it on an opponent's or allies' creature, they cannot untap it, but you can.
In the same idea, you can use Training Grounds to decrease the cost of Umbral Mantle because it grants the ability to the creature while it is equipped. That would give you an unlimited/unlimited Veldalken Engineer, if he was an artifact (since he has to be an artifact to use the mana for his ability that has been granted to him). You could also use Voltaic Construct in an infinite mana way, as well as Jandor's Saddlebags if it was a creature and an artifact.
