It's a combo, but if you're playing the right kind of deck, this can hit for a lot without any shenanigans at all.

Put this in a deck that uses a bunch of baubles and saccing mana stones.

Eggs deck says whut?

4x Lotus Bloom
4x Chromatic Sphere
4x Chromatic Star
4x Telling Time
2x Serum Visions
4x Reshape
2x Manamorphose
4x Second Sunrise
3x Gitaxian Probe
2x Pyrite Spellbomb
1x Sunbeam Spellbomb
4x Edge of Autumn
14x Island
1x Mountain
1x Scrapyard Salvo
1x Bitter Ordeal
4x Noxious Revival

The deck works by casting, sacrificing, drawing, and recurring artifacts, eventually blowing the opponent away with with Salvo, Spellbomb, or flat out exiling their deck. With Ponder and Preordain in Modern it was a turn 3 deck. Now I'd gauge it at turn 4 or 5 in Modern. Still fun as hell to play.

I got it I got it!!! :D

Mind funeral + mana artifacts + little lands in deck + this

turn 1: land, 1 drop mana artifact
turn 2: land, mind funeral self
turn 3: Scrapyard salvo

as for the lands, some thing tells me that the ideal number of lands to run is around 8, since when I run 4x arbor elf and 4x llanowar elves I always have 1 or 2 in my opening hand.

And as for the lack of mana, use phyrexian mana to defend? :D -hint hint-

gut shot, surgical extraction, Mental Misstep, gitaxian probe

Might see play in constructed. Just find a way to mill yourself real quick and hit for 20. Reminds me of goblin charbelcher, in more ways than one.

It's like Mortal Combat except it's red, costs one less mana, uses artifacts instead of creatures, and can win the game as soon as you cast it instead of waiting until your upkeep.

I'd consider this the better card, even if graveyard silliness is usually in black. Shame it's rated almost a full star lower.

definitely one of those situational cards but in the right combo it's going to be devastating. Taking the red/white rebirth deck... get enough artifacts in the gy and after you whittle away at your opponent for a while you may have 5-7 in your gy which is more than worth the 3 mana you pay.

Tyr ichor wellspring, vulshok replica, slag fiend, ardent shield, furnace celebration, Ferrovore, remember the fallen, infiltration lens, maybe blazing torch or shrine of burning rage plus our pal scrapyard salvo to finish the job with some beefy damage when it's time to bring home the bacon. staples like lightning bolt, assault strobe, kuldotha rebirth would appear as well as origin spellbombs or gremlin mines (at least on sideboard) if you see fit.

This card is so cheap for the amount of damage it can put out it's a little crazy, especially for a common... if only it was a phyrexian mana cost card xD

You can't cast mind funeral on yourself.

I really want to make a deck around these, Disciple of the Vaults, Slag Fiends, and the baubles and spellbombs that replace themselves for very little.
