Even WITHOUT the transformation, it would be a solid black flier (compare to Dusk Imp and Tethered Skirge).

This card is a little missleading. It's easy to think "cool, cast on turn 3, transform on turn 4." In retrospect, you can't play the land before your upkeep. Opps.

Good, even if you never transform.
It should be a high priority draft, and basically decent for any deck that can run it.
It's just plain above the curve for fliers in black.

I never actually transformed this guy in my sealed tournament. He did a lot of damage though, especially equipped with Mask of Avacyn.
